20 Weeks to a Final Draft: FREE Program!
Are you trying to get a script finished but just can’t seem to adhere to your own deadlines? Let me help with that!
As writers, we all know that self-imposed deadlines are the hardest to keep. With no one to be accountable to, it’s easy to let your deadlines slide and allow other priorities to take over.
That’s why I’ve created this program. I want to help you get that script finished!
20 Weeks to a Final Draft
During this 20 week program, let me be the one you are accountable to! I will check in with you at regular intervals to make sure you’re meeting your deadlines.
Once a month, I will hold office hours so you can hop on a group call and discuss any issues you’re facing with your script.
And the best part? I’m offering this program completely FREE!
We begin Friday, June 13 and finish Friday October 31, 2025!
Program Schedule
OUTLINE - 4 weeks
During this phase, you will take the time to fastidiously construct your outline. I highly recommend outlining in great detail if your objective is to turn a script out in just 20 weeks. You can use your own system for outlining, or give mine a try, which I’ve detailed here:
BREAK - 1 week
Taking time away from your script is almost as important as the writing itself! You need space to let your brain process the story you’ve just created. And you need a well-deserved rest after all your hard work! You might want to use this time to get feedback from trusted friends or colleagues.
FIRST DRAFT - 6 weeks
Because we’ve spent so much time on the outline, the first draft should ideally be a breeze to write. You’ll have 6 weeks to finish that first vomit draft! This phase is the biggest mental hurdle, but I’ll be in your corner cheering you on!
BREAK - 1 week
Another break to let everything settle and allow your brain to come up with some fixes in the background that need addressing for draft two. Here is another chance to gather some feedback while you kick back and give your mind a rest.
2ND DRAFT - 3 weeks
Since your first draft was so fabulous due to your meticulous outline, you’ll have three weeks to complete your first pass of revisions. This draft you’ll be focusing on ironing out any kinks in the story, characters and relationships and making sure it flows well.
BREAK - 1 week
Take a load off and set your second draft to “simmer”. This is another chance for some feedback, if you need it at this stage!
3RD DRAFT - 2 weeks
By this stage after your vomit draft and your first big revision, most of the major plot issues should be resolved, so this draft you’ll get more granular and start working on making your dialogue feel more natural and tweaking the action to create a truly compelling story written in your unique voice!
BREAK - 1 week
The last break before you push into the polish! This is a good chance to send the script to the same people you sent it to in the earlier stages to get feedback on improvements and changes you’ve made.
POLISH - 1 week
The final week! This week is all about going through the script with a fine-toothed comb and making sure it’s utterly perfect. Not a period out of place! Once you’re done with this polish, you should have a script you’re feeling confident to submit!
You may also want to use this last week to create your logline. If you need guidance on that, you’re welcome to use my method for creating loglines, which you can find here:
Now all that’s left to do is celebrate your accomplishment!
As I said above, me checking in with you at regular intervals and offering monthly office hours is completely free!
If you’re looking for more guidance during the process, I can help with that too!..
OPTIONAL: Notes/Script Coverage
During the process, I’ll be offering the option of notes and/or script coverage:
Notes for $250 per stage
If you’re looking for notes at multiple stages throughout the process, you can also choose to bundle them:
2 stages for $450
3 stages for $600
All stages for $800
To put that price into perspective, most script coverage ranges from $100-500, depending on the depth of the notes. I’ll read your script/outline twice (~3 hours), I’ll give you detailed inline notes throughout (~2 hours), and I’ll give you 1-2 pages of general notes and recommendations (~2 hours). That means my rate for giving you notes is about $35 per hour.
Private Consultation
If you feel like you need to discuss your script via video chat, I’m also offering private consultations at $200/hour, which includes me first reading the current phase of your script before our call.
